THE ISSUE OF REGRESSION ON THE PAST AND SEEKING ALLAH’S FORGIVENESS IN THE T-RHYMED POEM OF HIBBATULLAH ISMÃ'IL (AN ANALYTICAL CRITICAL STUDY)

Abstract

Regret on the past is a religious issue, and one of the conditions for accepting one’s repentance before Almighty Allah. Allah said: “O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance…” .The prophet Muhammad was also reported saying: “Regret is considered as repentance…”. The Poet
Hibatullah Ismãil has expressed in this poem his personal experience, by explaining his serious regret with the assistance of different artistic quality to clarify his ideas and announce his emotions, following the method of conservative Arab poets and influenced by system of Nigerian Scholar Poets and complying with Islamic literature landmarks in his expressions. Therefore, this paper attempt to analyze and criticize the study of this poem, concentrating on the following points: Poet’s short profile, full text of the poem, general meaning of the poem, the main ideas of the poem, analysis of emotional, imaginary, rhetorical and prosodic features of the poem and finally, critical comments on the poem.
