MORPHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF SELECTED NCDC REPORT OF COVID-19PANDEMIC

Abstract

This study examines the terminologies in selected COVID-19 pandemic reports by Nigeria Center for Diseases Control (NCDC)). The report is downloaded and printed from the internet as sources. The data are limited to 2020 report from NCDC which is purposively selected. The analysis used both the quantitative and qualitative methods using Anoroff’s Word Based Approach and Beard’s Item and Arrangement Model. The study identified, analyzed, classified and described the most commonly used words according to their morphological process; process analysis, process type and morphological form. The data are elaborated based on their morphological contexts and in emphatic recurrence of such morphemes. The words have been extensively exhibited in the data analyzed. It has been observed that a word is morphologically and lexically categorized as a MORPHEME, but its internal composition may also show it as a GROUP.
