Abstract

Science fiction as a genre of speculative fiction has made a lot of influence in mainstream culture especially the media from the cinema to musical videos. Its arrival into the African literary continuum has sparked contentions between scholars who feel the need to embrace it and others who question its colonial origin. This paper interrogates scholarly arguments on the readability of African science fiction with the aim of convincing the African public of the need to patronise this genre and critique its representation of the African milieu. This paper adds to the existing articles on the concept of African science fiction.
